Andy’s Bio

My name is Andy and I’m married to a beautiful and smart young lady called Vikky, we have a grown up daughter called Jessica. We also have a 9-year-old German Shepherd called Jasmine and an 8 (Yes 8) year old rabbit called Popper.
Well, it’s always difficult to talk about yourself but I feel it’s important you know a little about the person having all of this fun;
We’re originally from the South West of England and emigrated to New Zealand 15 years ago in search of a better work life balance, it was the best move of our lives and haven’t looked back since.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit many countries and sample a wide range of culinary delights on my travels and plan on sharing them (and many more with you) as we go on this journey together.
You will pick up that I’m also a keen gardener, I use a lot of my own produce (Depending on the season) and will also experiment with growing different items for the table. I grow all of my own Garlic, Shallots, all Onions, Potatoes, Beans, Celery, and a wide range of other produce. You can’t beat picking your own fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden to put on the table, it gives you a great feeling of achievement and you know it’s all organic and chemical free, growing the base ingredients is important to me.
I’ve always loved cooking and started my career working in restaurants and kitchens but soon got over the necessity to cut corners just to save money, it all became about the cost rather than quality and flavours. After 14 years I decided to change my career and went into Distribution, Logistics and Supply Chain and have thoroughly enjoyed many years in this field but always missed food.
New Zealand is a beautiful country and the food here is amazing. The lifestyle takes a little getting used to, everyone seems very chilled and laid back but once you get used to it it’s a great life.
The Protein and Produce available here is nothing short of amazing, it may be a small island but we’re surrounded by some of the best seafood I have ever experienced and the best meat I have ever tasted (Not to mention the amazing wines).
Recently I became sick and decided to start enjoying what I do best and that’s cooking. I enjoy all kinds of foods so you’ll see the recipe’s that I try and post are varied, I have tried to put them in some sort of order for you, so have a browse and give them a go. I will do some old traditional favourites (maybe with a twist) and many varied recipe’s from around the world. So be prepared to tickle those taste buds and give something new a go.
I do like a challenge. If anyone is looking for a recipe or would like me to jazz up a meal then please feel free to drop me a line and I will do what I can to help. Many of the recipes I post you will have heard of and possibly tried, but I will be trying all variations and combining the best ingredients to make up the best version I possibly can, I will not post something I don’t think is the best I can find or make.
Ok, time for me to have some fun. You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram both links are on this site feel free to comment and let me know what you think.
